So you know you’re going to hire a marquee for your event, and the time has come to think about the interior decorations and accessories.  Well marquee accessories are as limited as you own imagination and if something is not readily available then it’s likely it can be adjusted or amended to fit and work.  People in the marquee industry are used to adapting, as every venue will throw up a scenario that’s not written in the “book”.

Most marquee accessories can usually be sourced from the marquee hirer and this would be the preferred choice as you know the equipment is going to be compatible with the marquee you are hiring.  The range of accessories covers all sorts from lights and special effects to cloakrooms and sofas.  You should try and decide on a theme that ties in with the marquee venue and your own colour scheme when looking through products.

Where to start:

As I just mentioned you need to keep in theme with the marquee venue.  You are not going to put a grand style themed marquee into the grounds of a farm field venue.  This might mean that you should decide the theme you require before looking at the marquee venues on offer if you have a particular look and feel in mind.

So let us take our farmers field example for a marquee venue, we need to associate our marquee with a theme that ties in.  Maybe you will be at a wild west theme for this type of venue.  Now we know the marquee accessories we are looking for will have a wild west theme.  It’s a good idea to create a list of all the things you associate with the Wild West and cowboys.

Wild West marquee theme:

Cowboys

Cowboy hats

Hand guns – magnums

Cowboy boots with spurs

Horses

Lassos

Straw bales

Saloon bar

Swinging doors

Whisky

You can see how this list is easily written and can be grown to many items.  This will be the base for our accessory ideas.  Inside the marquee we shall start form the ground up starting with the flooring.  What type of flooring should be used?  Well the Wild West would be dusty so maybe just have the ground showing or scatter straw around.  If you really want flooring then maybe bare wood or a dark/charcoal coloured carpet.

Next thing maybe seating and eating arrangements.  This will depend on the event type because a wedding might need tables whereas barn dance might be people sitting on straw bales eating bowls of chilli.  If your using tables then try sourcing long tables in a banquet style.

You should be getting the picture as to how easy theme building can be and therefore marquee accessories will be easier to find than going in blind.  Simply take each little component bit by bit and if needed research them using the internet.  For example take an element, for example wild west bars, and type this into Google, then on the left you will see an option to show images.  Clicking that will bring up many images of your chosen keyword and inspire you with many ideas.  Typing this phrase in gave me the idea of putting a western bar together with a long line of bar stools and spirits displayed on a back bar with shelves instead of the traditional optics setup we usually see.

The marquee hire company you’re using may have experience of the theme you are trying to create and if it’s a common theme they may stock marquee accessories to fit.  There are event companies that specialise in theming events if you wish to hand over the reins.

You can view our marquee accessories page for items we regularly use.  If you wish to discuss a theme and interior options then feel free to contact us.
